In 2009, on a whim, I agreed to blog about Singapore Idol to help my ex colleagues (whom I totally love) promote the show. Turns out, my blog got pretty popular and was named the Unofficial Blog for the show. I had full access backstage and blogged almost every day and recorded videos to take viewers behind-the-scenes of the show. Plus I tweeted and twitpicced profusely on anything and everything I could think of.

My background in promo for Channel5 meant that my blog/twitter/facebook/twitpics were in line with marketing objectives for the show, and whatever I did, I tried to maximise promo angles to sell the show and its telecast/voting objectives (as well as sell the personalities of the contestants which is the key to reality shows like this) across these social media platforms.

Trainee Bank Officer - Assistant Marketing Manager
Created marketing collaterals for the bank's products (Home Loans, Unit Trusts, Insurance, Deposits etc). I was on loan to the credit card department for my first big project which was the launch of their Visa Electron card targeted at the young called the moi Card. I created collaterals, ran the launch roadshow and ran above- and below-the-line marketing campaigns.

I did likewise for other projects including the launch of OCBC Bank's first line of credit product - Personal Linetheir online banking portal at ocbc.com. I was also the key marketing person for the launch of OCBC Bank's branch with cafe (Coffee Bean) at Specialist Centre, this concept was a first in Singapore back then, and attracted much media attention. I also wrote CEO Alex Au's opening day speech. 

I was also in charge of the Marcom Manual which helped to customise the look and feel of marketing collaterals across all branches islandwide. 

I enjoy writing about anything and everything. Here are some samples of my work. 

Headed and managed all on-air/off-air marketing, PR and events/roadshows for the very first season of Singapore Idol (had previously been marketing American Idol Seasons 2 and 3 for Channel 5 and pioneered text2screen service).

Working with only one intern as back-up, my main objective was to get as much publicity as possible (as many covers across mags & newspapers as possible) for the programme.

Apart from marketing duties, was also co-'nanny' to the contestants.

If only social media were available then! I think the publicity woulda gone thru the roof!!! 

Marketing & PR for Channel 5 - international (from Gilmore Girls and F.R.I.E.N.D.S. to Survivor and American Idol) and local programmes (Restless, Chemistry, Miss Singapore Universe, Singapore Idol).

I write briefs for on-air marketing strategies, press releases for key programmes, scripts for radio commercials for my shows, promotional blurbs for tv listings, and occasionally, even double-up as a reporter at press junkets!
